Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before installing or using CatZ FAQs.

These Terms govern your use of the CatZ FAQs Shopify app. We've tried to write them in plain language. If you have questions about anything here, reach out at legal@catzcommerce.com.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the CatZ FAQs application ("App") or any services provided by CatZCommerce Inc. ("Company", "we", "us"), you ("Merchant", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time; your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

CatZ FAQs is a Shopify application that enables merchants to:

  • Create, manage, and publish FAQ content for their Shopify stores
  • Generate FAQ questions and answers using AI assistance
  • Display FAQ blocks on product pages, collections, and dedicated FAQ pages
  • Deploy a floating search widget for instant customer answers
  • Organize FAQ content by category, product, or custom page

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time with reasonable notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

3. Shopify Requirements

The App is built on and requires an active Shopify store. By using our App, you also agree to be bound by Shopify's Terms of Service and Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Shopify's terms, Shopify's terms shall govern with respect to the Shopify platform.

You grant us the necessary Shopify API permissions (scopes) to deliver the App's functionality. These permissions are listed during the app installation flow and are limited to what is strictly necessary.

4. Account & Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account and access credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Ensuring the FAQ content you publish is accurate, lawful, and does not infringe third-party rights
  • Complying with all applicable laws, including consumer protection and advertising regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You agree not to:

  • Use the App to publish false, misleading, or deceptive FAQ content
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code
  • Resell, sublicense, or white-label the App without written permission
  • Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or Shopify's policies
  • Abuse the AI generation feature to produce spam or low-quality content at scale

5. Payment & Billing

Billing is handled through Shopify Billing API. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize Shopify to charge the applicable subscription fee to your Shopify account on a recurring monthly basis.

  • Free Plan: Available with limited features at no cost. No payment information required.
  • Basic Plan: $9 USD/month. Billed monthly. Cancel anytime.
  • Essentials Plan: $29 USD/month. Billed monthly. Cancel anytime.

Refunds: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on first-time paid subscriptions. After 7 days, charges are non-refundable except where required by law. Refund requests must be submitted to support@catzcommerce.com.

Plan Changes: Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

6. Intellectual Property

Our IP: The App, including its design, code, AI models, and branding, is owned by CatZCommerce Inc. and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App solely as described in these Terms.

Your Content: You retain full ownership of the FAQ content you create within the App. By using the AI generation feature, you grant us a limited license to process your store data to generate FAQ suggestions. We do not claim ownership of your FAQ content.

Feedback: Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions you provide about the App may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.

7. Disclaimers & Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
  • AI-generated FAQ content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific store
  • The App will meet your requirements or produce specific SEO or business results

You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before publishing it on your store.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CATZCOMMERCE INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Termination

By You: You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify store. Uninstallation will trigger deletion of your app data within 30 days.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by Shopify or applicable law. We will provide notice where reasonably possible.

Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately. Sections 6, 7, 8, and 10 of these Terms survive termination.

10. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to contact us at legal@catzcommerce.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for a period of 30 days.
